Charming retreat with beach access
Our stay at Hotel Cantarana was simply relaxing and enjoyable. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the private beach access made our time unforgettable. The breakfasts were delightful, especially the fresh tropical fruits and avocado toast. The serene pool area provided a perfect spot to unwind after beach activities. We also rented surfboards nearby, and the nearby beach was not crowded, making it an ideal surfing morning!
However, our experience was not without issues. We faced some water outages during our stay, which was inconvenient, especially in the evening. The cleaning policy of every other day for eco-friendliness felt insufficient, as housekeeping services could have been more consistent. Additionally, we found the restaurant prices to be on the higher side, and some extras like coffee were rather limited, which felt unexpected for a hotel of this caliber.

I had a fantastic 8-night stay! The private beach access was incredible, and the outdoor shower was a fun touch after the beach. However, the pricing seemed a bit steep for what was offered, particularly in food options.

The small upstairs restaurant offered decent meals.
My experience was marred by several inconveniences. The housekeeper only came every other day, which left the room feeling neglected and not cleaned properly. Additionally, I faced issues with water outages during my stay, making it inconvenient to shower or wash up. Even though the staff was friendly, the dining prices felt quite high, with food that didn't meet expectations.

The room was spacious and cozy, with a comfy queen bed and air conditioning that provided a great night’s sleep. The private beach access truly felt like a personal retreat, often leaving us with the sandy shores nearly to ourselves. However, we encountered issues with water availability and a lack of timely housekeeping that detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the dining prices felt a bit steep compared to other local options, despite the tasty meals provided.

the restaurant was lovely, but I’ll just note that the food was only average, like, my Greek salad was basically all cabbage, what a disaster. Also, do they not know about room upgrades? I woudl ve been thrilled with one as a reward for my troubles, but alas, it seems they save those for someone else. Disappointing for sure.

We had a wonderful time at Playa Grande, just a quick walk from the hotel along a dirt road. The uncrowded beach was perfect for our kids to play and splash around. The food was fantastic, and we enjoyed the cozy feel of the place.
For dads, it would be great if there were more activities for kids.

The pool needs some maintenance, as several tiles are missing.
